BACK PAIN

About 9 out of 10 adults suffer from some form of back pain at in their lifetime, and 5 out of 10 working adults have back pain every year. It is one of humanity’s most frequent complains. Back pain affects us in so many ways, some even immobilizing you from a range of activities. Untreated back pain can lead to many health problems as our spine is the central of our Nervous System.

The spine is a complex interconnecting network of nerves, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments, and all are capable of producing pain hence it plays a vital role in our overall health and if our spine is not in good shape, it is logical that some areas in our body and even organs are affected by it.

Look at our spine this way. The spine is like a Highway and at every 1km, there is an exit that connects to a smaller road. Imagine 23 exits, on the left and on the right. That makes 66 of them! Now imagine if there’s a problem in one of the exits. A big hole, or a crack in the road. What will happen? A big jam or slow down definitely and not only will it affect the small road, but the jam might lead to the highway causing more problems there. Get the picture?

Now that’s how our nervous system is like. When ONE disc is not in good condition, the rest will slowly follow and the ‘Jam’ which is the blood flow is greatly disrupted causing discomfort and pain. What is the only way to solve this problem? Get it fixed, barriers removed and roads repaired. No other way would fix your problem here.

In detail, the spine houses the main nerves that connects to our organs such as the heart, liver, lungs, kidney, sexual organ, head, arms, legs and many more. We do not realize that the condition of our spine is affecting the sickness we are experiencing. Headaches, migraines, high bloodpressure, pain in the arms and numbness in the legs are just a few of the causes. To view the full list, click here.

So what causes our spine to get out of alignment?

Postural

A few hours a day is all it takes for your spine to slowly change its shape. If you have poor posture habits such as those below, now you know why your back hurts even when you have not had an accident or a fall that caused it.

- Sleeping on one side
- Curled-up when sleeping
- Sleeping on your stomach
- Sitting on the floor
- Computer users /Improper sitting position (Not sitting up straight / no backrest)
- Driving position
- Improper footwear / Walking habits
- Crossing legs

Accidental

- Slip & Fall
- Lifting heavy object
- Sports Injuries
- Gym exercises
- Automobile Accident
- Martial Arts Practitioner
- Domestic Injuries
- Lower back pain after childbirth

Now that we know what causes our back pain, how do we fix the problem?

Only aligning your spine will solve your problem permanently . Pain-killers, anti-inflammatory, physiotherapy, massage and other forms of numbing the pain or improving the blood circulation will only give you temporary relief. Aligning your spine is the best way to treat your back permanently!
